This work is critical
PARENTS learn how to ‘be with’ their children instead of negotiating, coaching, and critiquing. When we are so busy managing and talking, we miss out on connection, peace, and really knowing our children.
ADULTS embrace and facilitate developmentally appropriate ‘hardships’ so children become capable and confident. When a child says how do you spell, “extraordinary”, instead of starting to spell, ‘e . . x . .’ we say, ‘try it and I’ll check it for you.’ or ‘it’s ok if you don’t get it right the first time, just give it shot!’ and BAM! just like that, their self-efficacy shifts and they become more self-managed.
LEADERS become more willing to have tough conversations, lean into vulnerability and really listen to learn and grow for the good of the team, department, or family. Relationships improve, productivity improves and life gets better.
